From February to September 2004, I served as a security officer in Iraq. My job required that I work with all branches of the US military, Coalition Forces, members of the Senior Executive Service, private contractors, and Iraqi nationals. My travels throughout Iraq, including time under fire, gave me a valuable insight into the legal, ethical, and personal challenges faced by those who are rebuilding Iraq.
